Bastyr University is an upper-division institution offering bachelor of science degrees in exercise science and wellness, herbal sciences, nutrition, and health psychology. Also offered is a combined BS/MS completion program in acupuncture and Oriental medicine. All students must have completed the equivalent of two years of college course work before enrolling in an undergraduate degree program at Bastyr. Prospective students who hold approved direct transfer associate degrees from Washington state community colleges (AA, AS, or AAS) are given priority consideration if other prerequisite course and GPA requirements are satisfied.

Transfer credit may be granted from institutions accredited by regional accrediting agencies that are recognized by the American Council on Education Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation. Credits from schools outside of the U.S. are evaluated according to nationally established norms. Students who apply to Bastyr University with credit from institutions outside of the U.S. are required to obtain an evaluation by an evaluation service recognized by Bastyr University. Please contact the admissions office for details.

All entering undergraduate students are required to have at least a 2.25 cumulative grade point average, with a grade of "C" (2.0) or better in all basic proficiency and required science courses. Prior to enrollment, students must have completed 90 quarter credits (60 semester credits) including the minimum credits listed in each of the general education categories. (All credits are listed as quarter credits. Multiply semester credits times 1.5 to compute quarter credits). All 90 credits in the following categories are considered prerequisite to admission as a third year student. Credits not used to satisfy basic proficiency or science requirements may be applied to the appropriate general education or elective requirements. Students should be prepared to declare a major upon application to the university. Students may apply while completing prerequisite course work.

Transfer credit evaluations are done by the registrar's office prior to admission. Specific courses are evaluated based upon course content rather than title or the originating school's departmental designation. It is recommended that students review completed course work and submit petitions to waive, substitute or transfer credits before beginning the first quarter. If you have questions about how your credits will transfer to Bastyr, please contact the admissions office to schedule an appointment with our advisors at (425) 602-3330.
