*Construction alert for SR 522 (updated 10/28/08)
The City of Kenmore will be completing several improvements to SR 522 to increase safety, improve transit reliability and ease congestion. Learn more about the planned construction along SR 522. Construction work is currently taking place and will continue through 2009. Please expect delays and plan accordingly.
Joint Utility Trench – SR 522 and 83rd Pl. NE
Starting this week, crews will be continuing joint utility trench work in the vicinity of SR 522 and 83rd Pl. NE. To complete this work, crews will sawcut pavement across 83rd Pl. NE, dig a trench and install the remaining utility conduit. Once utility work is complete, a stormwater line will be added to the trench. The roadway will remain open during trench work, as crews will maintain access in each direction, closing only half of the roadway at a time. Flaggers will be on site to help guide people through the construction zone.
This work is a continuation of the trench that was already built starting at 80th Ave. NE. In the future, construction crews will work to complete curb, gutter and sidewalks, as well as repave individual driveways from 80th Ave NE to 83rd Pl. NE.
Burke-Gilman Trail Re-Opened – 65th Ave. NE and NE 175th St.
The Burke-Gilman Trail has been re-opened from west of 65th Ave. NE (across from Sherwin-Williams) to east of 65th Ave. NE (across from QQ Bistro). The trail detour on NE 175th St. has been removed and trail users are now permitted to use the trail through this section.
This trail work was associated with the new roadway alignment of 65th Ave. NE. Once the existing 65th Ave. NE was demolished, crews commenced with the grading and paving of the new trail connection; minor landscape and trail work through this area must still be completed.
